August 26th and 27nd, the fourth qualification of the ‘Globe BowlBash’ took place in Kantera skatepark in the north of Spain. Professional and amateur Skateboarders joined the contest at the legendary pool build by Txus Dominguez. Txus, member of the OMSA, said it was the most bizar pooljam that happened since the opening of the pool in 1987. It left the spectators with sore throats caused by screaming after the meter high airs and solid grinds that left nothing to the imagination. The Kantera skatepark is located at the beach of Bilbao and the pool is a classic backyard kidney shaped crater, feared by many. Picture the best poolriders pushing their limits in this context and then ad full on sunshine and you might get a bit of what went down.

Txus Domingues, alias Jesus showed what classic poolriding is about with birt slides, layback tailslides and carves over the deathbox. Alain Saavedro Larrabaster scared everyone preparing himself for a drop in right above the deathbox. Marc Haziza grabbed him to prevent head first collision, but the kid had it all planned, released himself, looked angry and popped over the deathbox landing clean somewhere halfway the 3 meter high transition. Pedro Thomas Atanet did the sickest smithgrinds ever, Roman Arsteitner charged hard popping bs airs and ollies all over. Marc Haziza did bs lipslides over the deathbox and bs disaster reverts. And then there was Norberto Mena, Algorta local and the most stylish skateboarder, action and fashion wize, doing smithgrinds on the verthip in white pants showing his chest hairs trough his opened blouse and a moustache on his upper lip. He ended up 3rd. A skateboarder with a sort of similar power, but a whole different style, Sebastien Daurel from Carbon Blanc, pushed the tight corners with full force and created radical lines. He earned 2nd place. Then there was of course local wonder boy Ivan Rivado, who clearly progressed big time. Ivan surprised everyone with tricks like bs airs so high over the deathbox and kickflips to bs lipslides out of the blue.

Ivan Rivado wins the BowlBash qualification in Algorta convincingly. The five highest ranked skateboarders of the Globe BowlBash in Algorta qualified for the Finals that will take place in the Area51 skatepark in the Netherlands, October 13-15th. The next qualification events will take place on October 14th in Eindhoven, the day before the Grand finals.
