Anders Tellen wins round two of the Globe BowlBash in Hamburg Germany.
June 3rd and 4th, the second qualification of the ‘Globe BowlBash’ took place in the I-punkt skatepark in Hamburg. Professional and amateur Skateboarders, mainly from German and Dutch nationalities joined the Globe Bowlbash. A skateboarding audience went wild witnessing oververt carves and lip tricks on the 5 meter wide RedBull extension with pool coping. The final battle was exciting, with 5 riders giving all they had.
For a BowlBash the amount of contenders and audience was relatively small, clearly caused by an overkill of skateboard contests this weekend in Hamburg, leaving a good part of the local scene in bed with a hangover after a drunken game of skate. Some guys seemed to have no problems with handling all that, like 20-year-old Hamburg local Nils Hammann, showing an incredible trick repertoire during the practice. Unfortunately he didn’t show all that in the contest giving Sascha Muller enough space to pull backside to tails on the vert wall followed by massive ollies over the hip. Also Volker Petersen did it well, spinning 360’s over the hip and doing all kinds of technical manouvres. But you couldn’t have missed Erwin Prent from Amsterdam rocking the I-Punkt bowl all weekend and being obviously in good shape. Erwin’s super fast noseslides to revert on the extensions made the audience scream. Another Dutch guy, Jeroen van Sluis, was seriously on fire, cracking al sorts of classic moves like inverts on the extension, fastplants and aerials right into the oververt. Two men, Anders Tellen and Daniel Beck, rocked the bowl like a bowl wants to be rocked. Daniel going fully bearded upside down in the oververt ending up in second. Anders Tellen plopped insane stalefishes over the hip and backside airs right in front of the judges, making it easy for them to plop him in first. The five highest ranked skateboarders of the Globe BowlBash in Hamburg qualified for the Finals that will take place in the Area51 skatepark in the Netherlands. The next qualification event will take place in Burnley England on 15 and 16 July. After that two more qualifications will follow in Algorta Spain and in Eindhoven The Netherlands.
